You can try to burn enough calories to make up for the food you eat but that only works for a short time. Most people will never burn 1000′s of calories a day every day by exercising. So what you need to do is figure out how many calories you actually need in a day. One of the best ways to do this is with a food diary. There is an online website that I use that makes this really easy. It is called figwee.com. It is free and it lets you put in your information and track what you eat every day. Once you know how much you need to eat every day it is mostly about adding or subtracting from it. I say adding or subtracting because some people may actually need to eat more then they are. Tracking you food intake everyday is the first step. The nest step is getting good data.

So what do I mean good data? Well I mean you need to know how much you really weigh and what your body-fat percentage actually is. So do this you need an accurate scale. When I first started I had a scale but my feet didn’t fit on I entirely and I had to lean on it. This made the data I had totally unreliable. Once I got a good bathroom scale I was able to track my results a lot better. It has made a huge difference. The next thing you need is a way to measure your body fat percentage. There are many ways you can do this. You can use a tape measure, bioelectrical impedance device, or one of many other techniques. It doesn’t matter which one you choose it just matters that you continue to track it. There is a lot of other data that is good to track like your vitamin levels in your blood but I will save that for a later article. For now just go with your weight and your body fat percentage. The next thing that is very important is learning what exercises you should do to help you lose weight.

It is important that you choose exercises that will help you lose weight faster since most people don’t have a lot of time to spend at the gym. So to us the most effective exercise is the best exercise. The some of exercises that we use are elliptical machines at high intensities, weight lifting, and kettlebell routines. I like the elliptical machine because it burns a lot of calories fast when it is done at higher levels. I like weight lifting because it helps you build muscle that burns more fat no matter what you are doing. I like kettlebell routines because they are a mix of weight lifting and high intensity cardio. In latter articles we will tell you about some other exercises we like. For now you should have enough to get started. The last major thing that we need to concentrate on is what kind of foods we are eating.

You are now tracking what you, how much you weigh, and you are starting to exercise. These are all great things that will help you get started living a healthier life. The next step to really get things moving is to change some of the things you eat.
You can start substituting in foods for old foods that you used to eat. I use to drink a lot of soda. I decided I want to lose weight and become healthier so I substituted in Yerba Mate tea. I now drink it for a little pick me up and I like the taste. When you first start substituting in healthy foods for your bad foods it can be hard. The best way I found to make it easier is to find something that you will actually like. I wanted something with flavor to drink. So water would not work or me at that time. A lot of people will tell you to drink water instead of soda. That is good advice but if you are not going to stick to it there is no reason in doing it. It is very hard to torture yourself in to eating better. So make small changes that you will like until you get more used to living healthier. Once you get used to it you will want to make bigger changes because of how much better you will feel. Take it slow but get started today.
As you can see losing weight, building muscle, and eating clean doesn’t have to be hard. It may take some time to get used to and to implement all of the changes but if you stick with it and keep moving forward you will get to your goal of a healthy life.
